Foram anunciados nesta quarta-feira, 25/02, em cerimônia apresentada pela dupla Sklar Brothers, no Beverly Hilton Hotel, em Los Angeles, os vencedores da 24ª edição do VES Awards, prêmio criado pela Visual Effects Society, que reconhece a excelência artística e a inovação em efeitos visuais em filmes, animações, programas de TV, comerciais e videogames.
Neste ano, Avatar: Fogo e Cinzas, de James Cameron, que liderava a lista com dez indicações, foi consagrado com sete prêmios; a animação Guerreiras do K-Pop, de Chris Appelhans e Maggie Kang, também se destacou e levou três prêmios. Nas categorias televisivas, Assassinato na Casa Branca, Planeta Pré-histórico: O Grande Congelamento, It: Bem-Vindos a Derry, Andor e The Last of Us se destacaram.
Durante a cerimônia, Kim Davidson, presidente do Conselho da VES, discursou: “A VES tem a honra de reconhecer o brilhantismo artístico e a inovação tecnológica em uma ampla gama de disciplinas. A arte dos efeitos visuais está em constante evolução para expandir os limites da nossa imaginação e os vencedores e indicados inspiradores desta noite representam o melhor trabalho do mundo todo.
