Amy Adams em cena de Nocturnal Animals, novo filme de Tom Ford.

Foram anunciados nesta terça-feira, 26/07, os filmes selecionados para o  41º Festival Internacional de Cinema de Toronto. O evento é conhecido por ser um termômetro para o Oscar, já que muitos de seus filmes quase sempre conseguem uma vaga na premiação americana. No ano passado, por exemplo, O Quarto de Jack, que rendeu a estatueta dourada de melhor atriz para Brie Larson, levou o principal prêmio do festival, escolhido pelo público; Spotlight: Segredos Revelados, vencedor do Oscar de melhor filme, também foi exibido em Toronto, na mostra Special Presentations.

Neste ano, a programação contará com diversas estreias mundiais de filmes dirigidos por Oliver Stone, Mira Nair, Ewan McGregor, Lone Scherfig, Raja Amari, Jonathan Demme, Baltasar Kormákur, Rob Reiner, J.A. Bayona, entre outros.

Diretores já consagrados e premiados também marcarão presença em Toronto com seus novos projetos, como: Werner Herzog, Denis Villeneuve, Tom Ford, François Ozon, Damien Chazelle, Pablo Larraín, Paul Verhoeven, Asghar Farhadi.

Dirigido por Antoine Fuqua, Sete Homens e Um Destino, remake do faroeste americano lançado em 1960, será o filme de abertura; The Edge of Seventeen, de Kelly Fremon Craig, e protagonizado por Hailee Steinfeld, será exibido na noite de encerramento.
