Alec Secareanu e Josh O’Connor em God’s Own Country: premiado.

O British Independent Film Awards foi criado em 1998 por Elliot Grove e Suzanne Ballantyne, fundadores do Raindance Film Festival, com o objetivo de celebrar o cinema britânico financiado de forma independente, homenageando novos talentos e promovendo tais produções para o grande público.

Neste ano, em sua 20ª edição, os vencedores do BIFA 2017 foram anunciados neste domingo, 10/12, e o drama God’s Own Country, de Francis Lee, se consagrou como o grande campeão com o prêmio de melhor filme britânico independente, além de vencer em outras três categorias; a atriz Vanessa Redgrave foi homenageada com o Richard Harris Award e o ator britânico Gary Oldman recebeu o Prêmio Variety.
