Foram anunciados nesta terça-feira, 08/03, no Beverly Hilton, os vencedores da 20ª edição do VES Awards, prêmio criado pela Visual Effects Society, que reconhece os melhores efeitos visuais e a inovação em filmes, animações, programas de TV, comerciais e videogames.
Neste ano, Duna, de Denis Villeneuve, e animação Encanto, de Jared Bush, Byron Howard e Charise Castro Smith, que lideravam a lista de indicações, se destacaram e receberam quatro prêmios cada.
Como de costume, nomes importantes da indústria foram homenageados na premiação: Lynwen Brennan, da Lucasfilm, recebeu o VES Lifetime Achievement Award; e o cineasta mexicano Guillermo del Toro, vencedor do Oscar por A Forma da Água, foi honrado com o VES Award for Creative Excellence.
Com mais de 3.300 membros, de 30 países, a Visual Effects Society reúne profissionais de efeitos visuais, incluindo artistas, tecnólogos, modelistas, educadores, executivos de estúdio, supervisores, especialistas em marketing e produtores.
